PostSubject: clocky's 63 square build   clocky's 63 square build EmptyTue Jan 31, 2012 10:21 pm

So here we have it, i've bought an early square from a guy who started the resto and is emigrating to NZ where it would seem to be near impossible to drive a left hooker. The car was originally an Arizona car and is solid. Once I saw the car laid bare I could not walk away from it. The car is in bits, this is by far the biggest Meccanno/Lego/Airfix kit I have ever emabarked on, it will be a learning curve and like they say...you can't eat an elephant all in one go, so i'm going to chip away in bite size chunks. Here are a few pictures of -1 one day, i'm picking up the body and pan tomorrow then hopefully the rest within the next seven days.

Thanks to Everett Barnes I have some pictures of the car prior to the start of the restoration.

Here is how it looked in 2004 when Everett went to see it.

Only kidding, looks awesome!

** slowly whitsles the death march**
Bel's gonna kill you!!!

Nice find tho Si, it was like talking to an excited 10 year old yesterday!
Like i said, get your garage built pronto and get it home straight from the painters and it'll be a jaw dropper.
Scrap what i said about the colour, i was picturing something entirely different, the colour's cool as fuck.
Get on with it, time's a ticking. Sometimes getting a bollocking from the Mrs is a worthwhile exercise... I live my life by that

cheers for the comments guys, like wurz said...I can't contain my excitement about this...until I think of telling Mrs clocks then i get scared lol!

Well, i've been tooing and froeing over the bridge today getting some bits of the car back to the unit, I took some pics and thought i'd share them.

Pan (a bit dusty)

the wings

clocky's 63 square build DSC04129

and the insides of the wings

clocky's 63 square build DSC04132

clocky's 63 square build DSC04133

That's about the lot for today, got some other bits but not going to bore you with them, every time I go down there it's like christmas! Very Happy

Plans are to get all the bits back then get down to getting the pan rolling, fit up all the panels and doors to check gaps are all good then get to work on the body, there are a few dents here and there to keep me busy for a while.

it's Birch green, prob in two weeks if I had more time, there is a fair bit of prep, there are a few dents and scrapes, i need to go right over it but the scuttle panel is dented and its double skinned so may be a bit tricky

i'm beside myself, i'm exstatic and frightened at the same time lol

The saving grace with the scuttle and the other dents is that i'm working with proper solid metal, just want to get some time in on it now.
